From the NWS: Much of Friday will be breezy as southerly winds bring in a warmer air mass, setting up our next chance for storms by the early evening. Wednesday Practice Net

There will be a Practice net on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on the Minneapolis repeater 146.700 - PL 127.3 for the first 15 minutes, and then we will switch over to the Burnsville Repeater on 147.210- PL 100.0 for the last 15 minutes. You do not need a spotter ID to participate in the practice net, but it is highly encouraged. Approaching Weather

Scattered Thunderstorms are approaching the metro, but appear to be dissapating on radar. At this time no severe weather is noted. Unless there is a change in status, there would be no net activation. From the NWS - Southeasterly winds gust to around 25 to 35 mph today. - A west-to-east moving cold front will trigger a couple rounds of storms today and tonight. Severe wind and hail risk is Marginal, and localized rainfall amounts may exceed 2 inches. - Slightly cooler temperatures are on the horizon with rain chances returning late next week. Situational Awareness: There are T-storms Rin the area right now moving from West to East - withLightning and gusty winds, however NWS reports these are not severe and no spotter call out is warranted. (At least right now as of 140PM ). These should clear by 3PM - and there is low confidence that evening storms will develop or be severe! Watching the skies and radar. Hello spotters…. Sorry this message has gone out late today - but really hot weather seems to have made ny mind a bit foggy!! There will be a Practice net on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on the Minneapolis repeater 146.700 - PL 127.3 for the first 15 minutes, and then we will switch over to the St Louis Park Repeater on 146.76- PL 114.8 for the last 15 minutes. You do not need a spotter ID to participate in the practice net, but it is highly encouraged. This is a practice net to make, a practice weather report if you would like, or check in to make sure you have your radio programmed correctly, and to see if you can make the repeater in blue sky conditions. Metro Skywarn Practice Net Wednesday, August 26th

Hello Fellow Spotters, We will be holding our weekly practice net on Wednesday, August 26th at 6:30 p.m. on the Minneapolis repeater 146.700 - PL 127.3 for the first 15 minutes. At 6:45 pm we will switch to the Burnsville repeater 146.76 + PL 100.00. Repeater information can be found here for skywarn repeaters <https://metroskywarn.org/amateur-radio/> This is a practice net to make sure your equipment works. You can call in current weather conditions or make a simulated weather report during our practice net. - Scattered thunderstorms still expected this morning over mainly southwest and far southern MN, some of which may produce strong winds, frequent lightning and brief downpours. SKYWARN spotter activation is not expected to be needed. - Another round of scattered thunderstorms possible for similar areas early Thursday morning but with less severe potential. - Best chance for widespread steady rainfall comes Friday night into Saturday morning. - Temperatures to remain very close to normal values through Wednesday, then drop below normal Thursday onward. - Chances for appreciable rain are limited this week, mainly for scattered showers and thunderstorms late tonight into early Tuesday morning, a few producing hail and gusty winds, followed by scattered showers late Tuesday night and again Friday night.
